Ahead of Olympics, prostitutes are to be cleared from parts of London including Newham, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich, Hackney and Waltham Forest.

/// Prostitutes are being told to stay away from parts of Newham under 'mini Asbo' bail conditions. They have also been given curfews from 10pm to 6am, according to Toynbee Hall.///

All very commendable I am sure, but wouldn't the police be better employed enforcing similar curfew measures on the youth drug, knife, and gun gangsters in these boroughs?

Or perhaps have MORE prostitutes? That way the drug gangs will be too knackered to fight each other?
Off the streets, into the brothels and the hotels.
The oldest profession gets where water wouldn't!
The British Establishment have always regarded sex as the ultimate sin.
B00, love it! Haaaaaaaa! Crying here!
I thank ye Naomi, I'm here all week (sadly!) ;-)
And What will the IOc do in their spare time? will high class escorts be exempt????
I totally agree AOG, and it also seems they are trying to tell the visitors from around the World descending to the UK for the Olympics that we dont have that kind of thing here!!!
I would imagine that if the police could prove who the "youth drug, knife, and gun gangsters in these boroughs?" are they'd be better off arresting them rather than putting a curfew on them!

This sort of thing is fairly common though, I visited Atlanta a couple of years after the 1996 olympics and there wasn't a tramp or homeless person to be seen in the city because they shipped them all off to Macon for the olympics.
Haven't they already started shifting the homeless out of London ahead of the Games. Oh-what a pristine city it will be.

Identifying a prostitute is pretty easy:

However, outside 'stop and search' (which the police ARE using, despite what some have reported), how are they going to similar curfew measures on the youth drug, knife, and gun gangsters in these boroughs?

Unless someone is caught in the act of committing a crime, or arrested for a public order offence, you can hardly impose a curfew on a section of society.
Sure they would aog, and why do you think they are not doing what you say? If your evidence for that is that there are still known criminals committing crime, that has always been the case;there are still burglaries, and still known burglars committing them.If the police arrest a known, persistent burglar or other criminal, they can apply for restrictive bail conditions as to areas or curfew etc or for the defendant to be remanded in custody. And if they arrest a known prostitute soliciting, they do the same.
But it does rather require that the person has actually done something to be arrested! That's always been easy with known prostitutes.
