Stock up now you can still use them after the increase.
Makes life hard for the crossword addicts....

Maybe they could print codes in the newspapers as proof of purchase and let people complete them online
I was thinking this too Rowan, it wouldn't be difficult to do it online, even if they charged a nominal fee that's cheaper than a stamp.
I'd like to see you get it there any other way for 60p!
Use the firms franking machine!!
I agree with Whisky.
Seemingly, Superdrug stores are selling 2nd class stamps for 25% discount while stocks last.

It would really bother me, if I still actually posted much.
Anyway, you wouldn't save much - 2nd is going to be 50p
In the long term I can see there just being one rate of postage charge, with a delivery of 1-5 days. If you want next day then you will go down the guaranteed delivery route.

Snail mail has reduced considerably now we are in the digital age and an increase in cost is inevitable.
I still think that's pretty cheap to be honest.

Plus, RM are probably losing out a fair bit now due to e-mails.
I think 'a fair bit' is an understatement EvBaby.

All my postie does is deliver junk leaflets now.
Yeah, think you're right.

Getting proper post more than once a week is quite a lot for me now.
Wait until you have children Evian. I think the kids school think I'm their penpal...
Ha ha!
All of us that do crosswords etc should be encouraging other ways of submission.

The Royal Mail may be underfunded but an increase of this order will do only one thing kill the Royal Mail with a massive decrease in items sent. Do way with second class and first class. All items should be a maximum of 50p and then Royal Mail might survive. Also get rid of all discounts for large users
Royal Mail appoints a new CEO, Moya Greene. She systematically lays off staff then complains that sales are down. Then what does she do? Goes for postage stamp increases of 30% and 39%.

Is it a coincidence that the same Moya Greene was involved in the running of Bombardier, until stock hit rock bottom, and she opted to stand down? Did she really?
This news has been known for several months, I've been buying a stock of stamps every week. As long as it says 1st, buy 'em now before they go up.
