My corsa makes a loud squeeling noise for about 5 mins and tappets are noisy.

The fan belt has been tightened so this isn't the problem.

can anyone help?

If you car has power-steering it could be the drive belt that is slightly loose and squeals. Mine does much the same thing but when it all warms up it's ok. I'm going to get mine looked at at the next service.

BUT.. if it's not that, then it could be a cambelt tensioner groaning with old age. If the cambelt tension isn't correct, all manner of mechanical noises are amplified.

It could also be your water pump squealing. You can buy a lubricant that you put into the water system and this sometimes helps. Its not expensive, have a wee look the next time your in Halfords.

Not sure if the corsa uses this system, but I had a transit and over the top of the camshaft runs a pipe with holes in it, this squirts oil on to the cams to lubricate them. It doesn't take a lot to block a hole and get too little oil on a cam, they then squeal as they wear away. This should be evident just by taking the rocker cover off and looking at the cams, (you may have to wipe them with a rag first). I'd suggest that you try the other remedies posted here first.
