i think that it's only the wealthy or at least better off can travel now, let alone wait for that to be built.
Not sure about the economic argument looks questionable to me.

I have read the environmental report and it's based on the idea that it will free up slots at Heathrow that wouldn't get used for other things - clearly fallacious.

I am surprised there isn't more opposition to it from people outside the area of it's impact

It is going to cost every man woman and child in this country over £500

At a time that everybody's saying we've no money.

*If* it comnes in on budget
there has been plenty of opposition to it, not sure it would be a white elephant, but considering we are skint is this the time to be chucking this money around. Concorde was a beautiful aircraft, and plenty of people used it, not just the uber wealthy.
Concorde was solving a problem that just didn't exist any more

I fear that the same is true of the HS2
This runs smack bang in the middle of the area I live and I think it's a bloody stupid idea.

I think the only thing HS2 is intended for is so the gov can say to other countries, "oohhh, look what we did". I don't see why it's needed. Just improve the current facilities. And yes, I do think anyone who isn't wealthy will be priced out of it anyway.
