Link to this, apparently it's after a protest regarding the shooting there.

Hi diasya I live in tottenham just around the corner to all this.

The noise is horrendous at the moment and lots of smoke. I know folks are upset about the shooting of Mark Duggan and we still have not got a full story about that.

Oh sorry to hear that funnygirl, must be awful being in the vicinity. Yes I gathered it was about the shooting incident, don't think we got the full story of it, I wonder if all the details will come out.
aftermath? it's still going on...you can see the local d!ckheads coming out to cause further trouble as they have nothing more productive to do on a saturday night. i give in...a mob descend on a police station wanting 'answers' about the incident on thursday and get upset because they are quite rightly told nothing. the police should get out the water cannons and rubber bullets and shoot the little buggers.

on a slightly different note, it's only taken 14 months of a tory government for utter financial chaos, grabbing money off folk who actually pay their taxes and a bit of rioting...nice (not). for all you tory voters out there - you certainly got what you voted for! x
Think I'll reserve judgement on this one until the full past and recent activity of Mr Duggan is brought to light and why he felt the need to (allegedly) carry a handgun and use it to shoot at a police officer.

Cynical? Moi?

You bet I am!

In most incidents like this you usually get the mob turn up who want nothing but trouble, happens to most protest marches, the peaceful ones are joined by the trouble makers, I think they are saying that's what happened here. Don't blame you phil for reserving judgement atm, think I will do the same as we need the full facts. Awful for the poor souls living in the area and those caught up in it though.
I am just hoping I can get some sleep tonight!!!!!

I cannot see how this is gonna help anybody! Tottenham is beginning to get a bad name if not already.
Funnily enough, the weekend I moved into Tottenham, was the weekend of the Broadwater Farm riots. I should have moved straight back out. Oh god a firework has just landed outside.
Looking at current live footage, it would appear that there are a lot of people just milling about and 'sightseeing', along with the odd few that are stoning Police vehicles etc.

In light of the arson and looting that has taken place it is now time for Police to literally read the riot act and begin to forcibly remove people from the area by whatever means necessary.

As I type an empty Police car is being vandalised and a BBC camera crew are being threatened.
What a wonderful advert for the Olympics taking place there in less than 12 months.

Looting Aldi and JJB, so classy!!
It may well be a pity, Philtaz, but the Riot Act was repealed in 1973, having been last used in 1929.
How will looting, setting fire to premises, ruining the businesses and livelihoods of your own kith and kin help the investigation into the shooting of Mark Duggan?

Once again the police and the politicians are going to get their fair share of flak, but one needs to look at society and it;s development over the past few decades.
no but its been on the radio news
an excuse to loot and rob, just what London needs, what a bunch of peabrains.
pity the police didnt shoot a few more of the stupid b******ds,there is no excuse at all for what happend in tottenham last night, what a bunch of savages.
neil42 if the Police did that Libya would have a good excuse to send planes over here to bomb us.

Seeing the pics this morning I have to agree with you em, this is crazy stuff and lots of people will make any excuse valid to suit their own ends.
Morning daisya, it is like a war zone outside. Hardly a wink of sleep with the sirens and helicopters.
Feel sorry for the local shopkeepers, it does look bad.
There are no sunday papers for a start and I am supposed to be going to Wood Green later, if I can get out!!!
Yes Quizmonster, I should have clarified. I meant issue the warning that was often used in Northern Ireland, which went along the lines of: You constitute an unlawful assembly etc......

Hope things return to normality for you soon funnygirl.
