Why do people have to make such a fuss over the police assasinating a community leader? It is their job and the are above the law, and the sooner the fuzzy muzzies realise that, the better.
Watching it the news now.
The man who was shot allegedly shot at a Police officer first.
How can the Government be blamed for this? People have to be responsible for their own actions, always looking for someone to blame to excuse their own inadequacies.
They are reporting young children were helping with the looting...I suppose folks will blame Cameron for that as well.
Gromit, according to the police the man they shot was a 'gangster'.
I am sure you know many unsavoury people and have they been shot??
Why don't police shoot every known criminal on the streets then??
I don't think the man who was shot could be classified as a community leader Gromit. He seems to have been a little far from being a fine and upstanding citizen.
Mark Duggan was in possession of a gun at the time that he was shot; this much seems to be agreed by both sides.

There are claims (naturally) that he had 'put his gun on the floor' before he was shot and that the 'Babylon' are, once again, nothing more than murderers.
All this righteous anger has to be directed somewhere.............hence the need to smash windows and steal a TV from a shop! :o/
there is no excuse for this whatsoever, people have lost thier homes and livings,
There was a recent thread asking about bringing in an American law officer to get London sorted out,I think this answers the question.

Ron.
And as for that Carpet Right shop that burned down, I reckon the manager of that shop paid someone to do it.
The shop has been losing money and business for years and saw an opportunity to get rid of this white elephant!!!
Isn't it compulsory to have rioting when the Tories are in power?

That is how I remember it anyway.
Icg76 //on a slightly different note, it's only taken 14 months of a tory government for utter financial chaos, grabbing money off folk who actually pay their taxes and a bit of rioting...nice (not). for all you tory voters out there - you certainly got what you voted for! x//
Interesting comment Icg . Please refresh my memory.
Wasn't it under Labour in the 70s that this country suffered from the most serious industrial unrest since WW II. eg 78/79 Winter of discontent. When the whole country was brought to a standstill.
More recently Blair/Brown riots in 2001/3//4/5.....9
Oldham,Harehils,Bradford,Boston, Fairford, Birmingham, London I could go on . That was under the Labour Government which you and I voted for .

Having memory problems Gromit that's a sign of old age or rose tinted spectacles. What's your excuse.?

Feel so sorry for those who have to live and work in the area - hope you can cope funnygirl, you must have been frightened out of your wits last night! People losing their homes is the worst, looking at the pics this morning, they've lost everything, I can't imagine what that's like.
1981 Toxteth, Moss Side etc Remind me again modeller who was in Number 10
I agree with sqad that "Once again the police and the politicians are going to get their fair share of flak, but one needs to look at society and its development over the past few decades."
However it's worth remembering that this seems no worse than what happened in the Brixton and Toxteth riots 30 years ago and I recall there were problems in Notting Hill and Moss Side in the 1970s
i bet that if you asked the majority of peole who were there last night and causing all the problems why they were there, most of them wouldnt have the faintest idea

You are probably right Gina.
Modeller has brought up an interesting pattern. Am I right in thinking fine weather is also a factor?
'Jolly riot weather.....'
As it's persisting down round here in the frozen north I don't expect the disinfected youths will feel like getting their feet chilly and wet, so our blackpuddings will be safe...... for now.
Why don't the police take the very simple step of acquiring some muckspreaders and letting those mothers feel their slurry?
It seems so strange to me that when an ARU are called to a scene and discharge a weapon, when being threatened, they seem to be in the wrong?

Why don't we have water canons in this country, we never have had them here but other countries seem to use them to stop riots et al...are we too soft to use such things just in case the darlings get hurt?
You are listening to the media then Tony??
