Obviously there is a way to go in this case as yet but it raises again interesting questions as to how best to deal with allegations in trying to balance innocent until proven guilty with protecting the public (and media interest) where the accused is publicly named.

If he is innocent (I have no idea either way, just musing), I hate to imagine the impact this has had and will have on his life.

Just recently in Bolton a girl was jailed for a false rape allegation so some action at least but doubtless never enough to make up for the impact on the man falsely accused let alone the impact on genuine rape cases which are difficult enough to bring as it is.

If the case is dropped, it will also be interesting to see what Christine Lagarde does. Should she 'do the honourable thing', and stand aside so that Dominique Strauss-Kahn can take up his old post, or carry on with in the post which she's been elected to?

Chris

PS: You might like to take a look at the question in 'Jobs & Education' about pre-course reading for a Law degree.
Suggest that the woman elected stays in the job, because from others testimony he is not a good representative for that role. I read that Sarkhozy had warned him before, about how the Americans don't take the same attitude as the French, whether true, to bad behaviour. His philandering has got him into hot water before, and irrespective of this case, he doesn't seem
to have a control over his behaviour.
From what i recall he only had a few months left in his role at the IMF, so i dont think she will need to stand down, she might offer to though.

Look at the history of this female hes alledged to have sexually assaulted, she's a wrong'un if ever there was one
Cases against the very wealthy and well-connected often collapse. Just a total coincidence, I'm sure.
I'm sure his wife was pleased that the sex with the maid was consensual.........
It is about time the law was changed, well at least in this country.

Why should an accused person be named, before they are found guilty?

Interesting to note in the Bolton case the man was named but did not commit rape, while the girl who had faultlessly accused him, was not named for legal reasons.

How can this be fair when this man will have the shadow of this non-crime lingering over him for the rest of his life, not to mention what he and his family had to endure while the case went through the courts?
I think his wife is none too pleased, would they really consider him for President, seems a step too far.
Doesn't seem to harm Berlusconi......
I`m in New York at the moment and from the news coverage here this morning, DSK seems all but exonerated. They`re saying the case should be dropped altogether and he looks very relaxed indeed. He went out to a local restaurant last night with wifey and celebrated to the tune of $700. They`re also talking about him running for president in France. If he gets off, I doubt he`ll be too bothered about what was left of his IMF job.
