Gay activities on TV

Why is it necessary to whow it? It can't be vital to the story? OK Sp points out below that there was an "uproar" over a gay bedroom scene. My question is, why must we have it on TV soaps at all. We all know about bandit bedroom activities, why is it vital to show it in TV before the watershed? come to that why are soaps exempt from normal watershed rules anyway?

Bedroom scenes in Soaps tend to simply show people in bed.....talking. No gymnastics nor heavy-breathing...

Because they are trying to reflect 'real' life....in real life people go to bed.

You've obviously not watched the programme if you think it showed a 'sex scene'.

Bedroom scenes in soaps are fine surely as long as they are not steamy. Showing couple cuddling or kissing in bed is fine and pre watershed bedroom scenes don't go too far in my mind. I am far more worried about pre watershed violence on TV. Most kids are quite aware that the parents 'cuddle up' in bed hopefully.

And what sex the participants are has no relevance whatsoever.

Yep, 'love' scenes are OK,'sex' scenes are not

But it wasn't a sex scene. It was two men lying in bed, one with his arm round the other. These two characters often kiss and cuddle, fully clothed, outside the bedroom. There doesn't seem to be a problem with that.
