They say they are not! But they have just given Geo Osborne the green light to continue with his austerity policies which flys in the face of Labour who say he is on the wrong track.

Also if Gordon Brown had been elected to the head of the IMF could you really hear him saying "keep up the good work George"

Well they would say that wouldnt they. Labour are hardly an independent advice group.

And if Gordon Brown had not been so awful at managing the countries finance maybe we would need the belt tighteing we have now got.
Thing is with the IMF is that they have view but until its all done and dusted you don't know if they are right or wrong. They are not political but there are not many socialist bankers are there?

VHG don't think many of these are Labour either

"Gordon Brown had not been so awful at managing the countries finance maybe we would need the belt tighteing we have now got" So the banking community and the toxic mortgage debt had nothing to do with it.
rov........the G20 thinks he is on the right track.....the CBI thinks he is on the right track......many financiers think he is on the right track.

Me? I don't know enough about it.
Oh and case in point Rov anyone who thinks it would of been different under Labour are wrong, They may have taken longer to deliver the medicine but delivered it would of been.

There isn't a magic cure
I think by the nature of their business they will inevitably have a right wing ideology. After all, left wing beliefs are about prioritising helping the less advantaged in society over any wealth creation; which hardly fits the IMF goals.
What the IMF come up with suits the governments policies & they implement them needed or not.
seeing as how G Brown and associates caused much of the doo doo we are in, its hardly fair of any labour politico to come out with a statement that the coalition are on the wrong track. We had 13 years of nu labour, and can't see they should be lecturing anyone.
left wing ideologies aren't always about helping people, if it were, why are things in such a mess. We have a labour council, and they are closing many libraries, making savage cuts to every vulnerable cause, yet they have a substantial war chest which could be used, but they prefer to bash the coalition with cuts, bleating on about how the nasty party has caused all this. Add to that mega bucks wage bill, bonuses and expenses for councillors, and their minions, no sorry, doesn't really wash.

agree with - em - not when they overspend with such contempt and leave notes that the cupboard is bare to the incoming Treasury. Disgraceful and irresponsible and I hope the Cons and Libs continue on in power for a long time.
Of course it washes. Just because the priority is on helping the less well off rather than allowing wealth creators free reign, doesn't mean that there are not times when you can not follow through with your ideals. The economy isn't on a permanent high. For example recently, there have been problems mainly because of bankers failing to do their job properly and assuming 'investments' were ok because their peers said so, without checking the process properly.
BTW if you can prove their is wealth that can be put to good use then you should make it clear in the local area since your left wing council would clearly not be adhering to their own aims. I suspect probably because they don't want to see their past prudence run down due to national government policies, thus proping up what they see as bad government policies, and so gaining the government credibility at their expense.
