The teacher was sacked because he physically restrained him by grabbing his arms and left some marks! Oh dear, must be assault then! How pathetic. Oh yes he was a 15 year old boy with 'special needs'. What does that mean? I will translate, it means a naughty child, simple as that, same as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Another label to excuse bad behavior.

Doc, said son is 40y now :) He dropped a brick on his elder brother (head stiched) from a tree he'd climbed - the bukker! I bashed the daylights out of him and I dont regret it.
Naughty, get caned, So what, it taught me discipline and respect, more than be said for to-day;s youngsters.

Well that sounds like an admission of guilt doc?
Once again, you have that enormous brush out, to tar all the kids with.
Based purely on what is in the article, no he should not have been sacked. There may be other instances we are unaware of.
I too went to school in the 50's & 60's, & during this time corporal punishment was meted out on a daily basis.
I've been hit with slippers, canes, rulers, blackboard rubbers, stool ball & rounders bats. I was slapped, punched had my ears & hair pulled....most of the time I was hit for getting my work wrong, not for being naughty...unless running down the corridor is a capital offence.
Some of the people who were educated under that system call them the good old days.....they weren't! From the age of 5 to 11 were a nightmare for me; I was scared sh1tless every day.

Yes, mick..........

If you care to have a nosy in any of Her Maj's Holiday Camps.....you won't see *anyone* in their 50's or 60's..........I believe crime wasn't invented until some time in the 1980's !

I've never broken the law. This was not due to being beaten sh1tless at school, it was due to having respect for my parents
lol Mick Talbot - don't be silly. The world that Doc lived in had no crime, children were always polite and minded their ps and qs and no one ever had illegal car number plates.
At least teachers and the police actually had powers in those days

My 8y g'son screams/bawls when I offer him sweet kids cough mixture; I was caned if I refused the daily dose of cod liver oil in my convent.

G'son wont stay with me as I object to his daily menu of KFC - good !
