Shocking! How very dare he!
Financially it makes very little sense for the Chancellor to raise money this way. He is borrowing at a much higher rate than he needs to and it is costing working taxpayer a lot more. It is a very bad deal for everyone except a key group of voters at the election.
Not just a shameless bribe, but a very expensive way for a Government to finance its deficit.

Even if you consider it a bribe, are you really telling me Labour would not 'bribe' voters come election time?

Labour always bribe their client base.
This kind of thing should be available to everyone not just to oaps.

Best thing to do with an election bribe. The floating voter doesn't decide until the night before so there isn't much point doing the bribe otherwise.
