Just heard through fanclub that a-ha are disbanding next year after one final world tour. To me they are and have been one of the greatest pop groups of all time, I've seen them live many times and they've always impressed. There is not one album of theirs that I don't listen to, yes I am a fan but the critical acclaim they receive today is far wider than some might believe. My question is what are your favourite a-ha tracks of all time (singles, album tracks, b-sides, whatever...)yes I could post this on the official website but I'm interested in the views of those who probably wouldn't count themselves as particularly diehard a-ha fans. My personal favourites are: The Swing Of Things, Early Morning, Rolling Thunder, Angel In The Snow, Memorial Beach, Summer Moved On, Lifelines, Cosy Prisons, Foot Of The Mountain, The Bandstand...but if I'm honest this list could go on and on. Any comments appreciated...thanks

(Seemingly) nonstop July is excellent, as is memorial beach, the one on their new album that goes 'your dark glasses, sliding down your nose' - I've been listening to it in the car and don't know the track listings - again, the list could go on all day. Even seemingly naff ones like Maybe Maybe still make me smile and sing along. It seems quite sad that they've chosen to split just when they're getting their first recognition since the 80's but then maybe it's better to go out on a high than drag on and on like some other bands. I've never had the chance to see them live and I don't think they're playing Scotland this time round so it doesn't look like I ever will :(
Oh yeah,a definitely great band of the 80's.
Here is a favourite one of mine and yours boingboing!!

Other firm favourites are Cry Wolf and Take on Me and Living a Boy's Adventure Tale (these three songs are my top three favourite),Living Daylights,The Sun always shines on TV,Hunting High and Low,Manhattan Skyline, and as you say the list is endless. But the ones I have mentioned are all good!!!!

I totally forgot about Living A Boy's Adventure Tale, thanks Imhotep it's brilliant esp. when Morten hits the high note near the end. To Karenmac60 the track on the new album is What There Is and yes it is beautiful. Sorry they're not playing Scotland, they've announced a farewell tour next year - I hope they include Britain. Just go and see them live for one last time as they really are quite great! I'm seriously considering saving up for the farewell concert in Oslo next year, can't really afford it but they'll never be around again...love them to bits, there'll never be a group like them again. Karenmac60 if you've not heard the soloi stuff yet then try Morten Harket: Wild Seed, the track Los Angeles is to die for.Pal's stuff with Savoy is also great as is
Mags' solo stuff as well. Go and see them one last time before the split!.......
They can\'t speak English.

What is \'Take On Me\' supposed to mean?
doesn't it mean exactly what it says - take on me - give me a go - go out with me self explanatory surely
Rotten English - surely it should be Take Me On
