Back in the early 20s, the name "Rising Sun" was popularly attributed to brothels in Anglo/American culture. The traditional version of "The House of the Rising Sun" speaks, not of a boy's experience, but of a girl corrupted into a life of ruin.

thank u for the reply

The popular version - by The Animals, contains one of the most popular misquoted lyrics ever - "My mother was a traitor, sold my new blue jeans ...." but the actual lyrics is "My mother was a tailor, sewed my new blue jeans ...".

The song tells the tale of a man who has gown up with a drunken father, and has wasted his life in the House Of The Rising Sun, and is now boarding a train to return to the city of his birth, and scene of his troubles, to serve a prison sentence, for crimes not specified. He ends by warning others not to follow his sad path in life.
