Was the song I heard on BBC Breakfast TV this morning the English anthem, or was it merely a contender? I came in as it was playing, so I'm not sure. If it was the official England song, did anyone find it inspirational at all?

Was it when they were listening to it on a radio? If so then yes it was the England anthem, by Embrace I think.

yes its called world at your feet and is by embrace.

not sure first time i heard it but its growing on me really quickly. its not the sort of song you'll hear in the terraces like Three Lions but Danny from Embrace said he never intended it to be. Wanted to write a song that everyone could appreciate so it's more of a soundtrack for England than a chanty type song.

guaranteed number one for them!

No, it sounded rubbish to me!
i heard a song on gmtv this morning for the england team...it must have been the same one....it was good...and thats something coming from a scot!!!!!
a rubbish song from a rubbish band.
It's a bit slow ;-)
I watched MOTD2 last night and Adrian Chiles was talking about past England world cup songs. Why did he not mention Three Lions once? Is it for some reason totally ignored by the BBC? To my mind (and probably most others) this is the best England song ever and probably the only one that's ever sung on the terraces.
Probably the real thing. Only heard it once on MOTD2 so my opinion of it is liable to change but I thought it started slowly and had a vaguely catchy chorus. Also was slightly "singalongy" although definitely not as instantly brilliant to be called anthemic (which is what they should be aiming for)

Thanks all for your responses. I must say it wasn't too bad, but as far as firing up the blood and singing it in the terraces, it didn't do much for me.

Oh, I almost forgot to say, I'm a Scotsman.
