Page 6 of today's Daily Star Sunday states that the favourite to become England's World Cup song for 2006 is England, My England, a classic poem set to music by DJ Mike Read. You can hear it on the singer's website - www.elliottfrisby.com Sounds like a winner to me. What do you think?

Wow...i've heard some others but this one stands out a mile. When can i hear the full version or buy it?

"What have i done for u England my England"..Love it

It quite often gets played on Radio London International, which is most easily found through The Internet or Sky TV. It will apparently be released once the FA make their song decision in the next month or so.

no offence but it aint exactly an anthem is it ?

though it might bore the other players into falling asleep !

It's a great poem, but not a particularly 'manly' football song. I can't picture anybody chaning this one. A better anthem I've heard is "Chant Like An English Fan!" by The Laddz:

A stomp you can't dance to and chant from the stands.

just listened to The Ladz. Obviously uses Walk Like An Egyptian by The Bangles which sounds SOOOOOO dated now unlike lead singer Susanna Hoffs' eternal beauty. Too repetitive and definitely not in the same league as England, My England

One unique ENGLAND WORLD CUP SONG strategy is only to sell their song 'WE'RE THE ENGLAND' on eBay! SPIZZENERGI don't do it to jump on any band wagon going - We do it for FUN. You won't find this offered to Virgin Radio's patronising 'Peoples Anthem' nonsense. No - If it never gets played we don't care that's why we've chosen our favourite marketplace eBay to sell the CD.
PISTOLS WEBSITE: Just been listening to We're The England this morning. "In Berlin, we're gonna win". I like it!

Forget iTUNES & NAPSTER KARMADOWNLOADS - STUFF THE DOWNLOAD CHARTS! - WE DON'T NEED IT MAAAAAAN! - AND WE DON'T CARE!

Well, . . . I don't know if anybody read the Daily Star today, but . . . The Laddz got a write up, so I guess the song wasn't that bad afterall.

I think it's rather healthy that there's competition for an anthem as well as competition for the World Cup.

Bottom line is: it's a great time for sport and a bloody funny time for music, but what the heck, it's really just another excuse to get laaarger'd up and have a good time!

If you've not listened to it yet, check it out, I hear they're about to get signed, so cringe at the airwaves if you will, but it ain't going away any time soon!
