I can think of at least two other types of person who may opt to wear dark glasses. First there are those who aren't blind but have eye issues, maybe oversensitivity to light. And then there are those, such as the Blues Brothers, who opt to use them as part of their stage persona.

On top of which, I wear glasses and choose photochromic lens so the eyes don't get dazzled or deteriorate in sunlight; but the lens doesn't care if it is detecting direct sunlight in summer or diffused sunlight in winter, and on rare occasions I've had smart comments from some comedian who failed to think before opening mouth.
