I'm looking for the name of the artist who sang on the classic Channel advert in the 1970's. It sounds like Nina Simone, The Lyrics went " I don't want to set the world on Fire." The advert was very cool with a sky scaper and a plane flyine over with a beautiful woman driving a convertable in a classic Marlyn Monroe 50's style.

could be the Inkspots or The Platters. Not sure though.

'I don't want to set the world on fire, I just want to start a flame in your heart. In my heart I have but one desire, and that one is you, no other will do' etc etc - very classy advert.

I remember it well and for a long while I searched to get a copy of the song by the artist - I was assured it was by Jo Stafford. Unfortunately I never managed to get it, but I did find it by The Inkspots on their album The best of The Inkspots. It's still very good, but not quite the same as that woman's evocative (ooh big word!) voice.

Hope this helps.
