My niece had a baby last December, all she ever posts about is what the baby has been doing and what happened on X-Factor. Bores the sh** out of me!
Information for her friends?
I have had to amend my newsfeed preferences for the various friends whom have recently had babies and do the same TWR. It limits the info I see from them, so baby spit photos and updates on their bowel movements every day are banned from my newsfeed.
I like the rest of Facebook however as it is a free way to chat to friends both in the UK and abroad (Australia/ Canada etc)
christ almighty, if the baby can roll over at 4 weeks old, it is a miracle genius baby, and she should be shouting about it to the whole world!

I don't 'do' Facebook, but I often wonder why people think their lives are of any interest whatsoever to anyone other than their immediate family and friends.
Most people I know only have family and friends view their pages - if I'm not interested in what's there I skim past rather like browsing a magazine.
Most people don't Naomi. My Facebook settings mean that only my close friends and immediate family can see what I post.
But I know people who have hundreds of 'friends' - most of whom they don't actually know. Why do they think those people are interested in their day to day lives? Or are they?
Well as I say, it may be interesting to some they know - if it isn't just skim past.

We don't have a paddy when driving the road and passing billboards that don't interest us,we just ignore.
I have 98 friends about half of whom are close friends and family and the other half people I have worked with or will possibly work with in the future. I post things which amuse me and will likely amuse my friends, share things about people who are missing etc and work related things mostly. I don't ever do the 'I'm eating a bagel' thing, nor does anyone I know really.
I used to have a friend on FB who would post when someone was at the door, or other such minutiae. It's easy enough to defriend them or to "hide all posts from X" - just click on the little arrow, top right on their post.
A lot of the time such "friends" are, say, people who went to the same school or something and aren't really friends in any traditional sense. But perhaps one day there might be some reunion organised, or something. Also it's just hard to say no to a friend request -- feels a bit rude. So you end up with a bunch of people you rarely speak to who can see your page, filled perhaps with stuff they don't care about.

But then there are some people you would like to keep in touch with regularly, and it turns out that Facebook's a useful way of doing that. Not the only way, perhaps, but a handy way all the same.

And then you don't have to update it with such random junk. Some people do, and that's fine, just ignore it. Doesn't detract from the rest.
Do people have paddies about it? (Bear in mind I only know what I'm told about Facebook, but the OP seems to agree with what I'm told).
TWR, Its for your OP, that I don't bother with twitter, I gave it a go (Still have an account) but the drivel posted is mind numbingly dull.

My FB account only has family and freinds (only three I haven't met)
However I do like the 'like' function as it updates on latest news of. as an eg:, Sporting events, Music, Films etc what ever you decide to choose.
^That was to Mamyalynne.
Well, I have seen far worse expressed on here re Facebook than the OP has expressed - it's just seems such a little thing to stress about.

I have never been one to get frustrated by things, far too much of the big stuff to deal with.

Equally it is something you can remove from your life quite easily by never opening it up.
I'm just curious. I can understand why people are interested in the lives of those they know, but not strangers. An acquaintance of mine was really upset when someone 'unfriended/defriended/whatever' her, but she didn't know the woman from Adam, so why be upset? Maybe I just don't understand. Lucky me!! :o)
I use FB for playing games. I have a nucleus of a) *real* friends and then b) neighbours who play the same game as me. I dont get posting inanities (sp) of who does what and where, nor do I get twitter, I think that might be a generational thing as social media sights did not exist when I was in my prime
I have been 'unfriended' too - usually the reason was that I didn't post much. Wasn't upset and understood.
