I notice you say no singers were harmed during the encounter. Pity, that...

If I only knew then what I know now!
actually I think it is too long....
if you top someone, it is around 11 y.

Yolande unpronounciable is on t v saying she warned the police many many ttimes.....
Huh?
At last, a punishment which fits the crime! I haven't delved too deeply into this case, but has the judge indicated that he should never be considered for early release?

The report states that he should serve 20 years.
sorry I am unclear - I think it is too long
considering that if one murders someone the average time served is eleven years...

also whilst we are about it - I thought the Train Robbers sentences in the sixties were too long -considering that murderers were serving on average eleven years
I had 29 y on the t v
All that says to me is that sentences for murder are far too short!
Too long!! So how long do you think is long enough, Peter?
Question Author
Some crimes are so egregious that they deserve exemplary sentences. I'd say this falls into that category.
Peter's just saying the sentences are out of kilter with murder sentences. A temptation to abusers to just kill their victims.
He should never get out, ever, imo.

He got 35 years...6 of those on license so will be out in 29.
Not how I read it, Jno.....it's not too long whatever you take into consideration.
Oh dear we arent gonna start chanting - bring back the rope ! are we ?

It depends on whether you think or can show that sentencing is deterrent - if you do, the examples can usefully be set.
If you don't the example does not have a function and so should not be followed.

So 29 years at Her Majesty's pleasure, and at the taxpayers' expense, which will be higher than for other prisoners because of the need to keep him segregated.
Sod the deterrent, Peter....it's the punishment he deserves.
It says on sandy's link that he is expected to do a minimum of 20 years with a further 6 on licence.
I think that the mother's of the two children should have been sentenced to just as long, if not longer. Without them, he would not have been able to carry out his evil deeds.
