Taken as a whole, with all the classics and all the cheesies, which decade claims the crown for best music? 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's or 00's? We'll take it as read no one would vote for the 10's just yet.

Methinks this may be a showing your age thread, lol.
I think it's going to depend on your own personal taste in music and your age ..... 80's all the way for me :)
60's music for me. British and American. Although I thought the 80's produced some good sounds too.
65 to 75, no contest.
flobadob, I am a fan of Tamla Motown and Northern Soul, and the mid 60's to the late 70's is when the best stuff was around imo.
mid70s on to 80s. Apart from Elvis and the Beatles all the greats of several genres sit in that era - don't they?
The 20's
You have to judge ABs demographic in judging the replies. 70's and early 80's for me.
It's usually the decade in which you were in your teens and twenties - that is when music is a soundtrack for your life, and songs like to memories.

If you want to be objective - it has to be the '60's - so many ground-breaking groups and styles were revealed.

For me, it's the 70's - soundtrack of my life.
Early 90s, as was teenager, then. But it was rock and metal, never listened to chart music.

Before my time, but it's true. Objectively this was when popular music was at it's most interesting and exciting.
Definitely the 60s and 70s. Even the youngsters know that music as it has stood the test of time.
As a teenager of the 70s, I am slightly biased towards the glam rock of that decade. But then as a musician/singer, I find it very difficult to choose any one decade over the rest. There's quality in every period.
I'm with Tony, Sam, ferlew and Zacs on this one.
It has been noted a lot depends on your era i am glad to say my teen's early twenties was 1955 to 1970 that witnessed the birth of rock n roll/ pop, first from America then England. i am also sad to say that from 1970 onwards to present day it has been in decline, so for me the 60's has to be the top decade.
The 1980s and then the 60s. Music hasn't recovered from the 90s because of all the rubbish that was made but it is slowly recovering but everyone must stop buying anything associated with the X Factor and get back to proper bands and singer song writers.
=)
