What does this latest craze mean? It's where you put your arm across your face as though you are sneezing into your elbow.. it has some supposed deep meaning to the young. Anyone in on it.

Never heard of it until I seen it mentioned on Room 101.
"Latest"? It was so 2016 no one dares to do it now ...don't try and do it to show the youth of today you know their stuff because you will mostly hear stifled giggles!
...and don't do it in Saudi Arabia - it's illegal there!
Hahahahahaaaa :-) Apparently it's illegal to dab in Saudi Arabia!!
...oops.

That's where I saw it to ummmm.
I have often 'Dabbled' in many things.
Question Author
But what does it mean?
Dabbing, or the dab, is a simple dance move in which a person drops the head into the bent crook of a slanted arm, not to be confused with the Nazi salute; often while raising the opposite arm in a parallel direction but out straight. Since 2015, it has also been used as a gesture of triumph or playfulness, becoming a youthful American dance fad and Internet meme
From the link.
Question Author
Thank you Mamya, why do the young do it?
I only know what I've read - a gesture of triumph and playfulness.
I don't think they do anymore Caran ..certainly not where I live.
It is definitely "passe" here. They don't even do it as a cringeworthy joke to parody the time when it was fashionable.
It faded out around the same trime as "bottle tossing" even before fidget spinners.
Question Author
What was bottle tossing?
must have come after hula hoops, Caran.
I think its where kids (mainly) throw a plastic bottle with some liquid in it and try to get it to land standing up
I've never seen any young person 'dabbing' ever, even in 2016. I've also only just seen it on Room 101.
I've never heard of it full stop ( gawd, I must start and get down with da kids ).
