You can defo tax it .... and you can also be insured to drive somebody elses car so i cant see any problems with that
Be advised that, for a number of reasons, this is not a good idea.

1. Every vehicle using public roads must have a registered keeper/owner of it on DVLA files.

2. Its keeper/owner must have a current and valid certificate of insurance in force in relation to that vehicle.

3. Any road traffic violations involving that vehicle may lead to the registered keeper/owner having to become involved.

4. Your insurance cover would only be 3rd Party cover, and you could only drive the car with the owner's permission.

5. You could Tax and MOT it even if you do not own it.
By far the easiest way to do this and remain within the law is for you to tax and MOT the car and pay for your friend to insure the car in her name with you as named driver.

This will be far cheaper than non-owner insurance in any case.

Why will you be paying for the tax and M O T ? Are you going to be using the car for the full twelve months?.
