A few months ago, I got a car insurance quote to see how much insurance would be once I pass my test, it came out at £2000 which was fine. I've got another quote today so I can insure my car on Tuesday providing I pass my test and it's shot up to £4000 which is way to much, there is no way I could afford that and can't see how any 17 year old would be able to! what the hell am I supposed to do now!? I even tried that new drivers insurance company that has rules like, you cant drive between certain hours etc.. and they quoted me £5000, they claim they know that insurance is too expensive for new drivers! they don't know sh!t if they think they can charge that!

You're a high risk ...
Question Author
I understand why it's so high but I just think there should be some leeway otherwise how are new drivers ever supposed to get on the roads and gain experience?
It's pretty normal I'm afraid, particularly since all insurance premiums have shot up lately!
Insurance is so high for new drivers as they are high risk, in the same way as people going into their 80s (for example) will also have the same problem.
Going on someone elses insurance may help you to get cheaper insurance, although you rarely get no claims bonus.
Have you already got a car?
The reason they don't want leeway is because they are more likely to lose money.
Who have you tried - I got a good rate for my 17 year old son with Quinn direct

What's the car any chance of changing to one that's cheaper to insure or being a named driver on a someone-else's policy for a bit?
Is that just third party benny? I agree that's pricing most young drivers out of the market
Have you looked on a comparison site like Go Compare or Confused.com?

I have been with quinn-direct since I started driving, just over 3 years ago, and I must say that they were very good!
Although since they went bankrupt (and taken over I believe!) their prices seem to have shot up!
Question Author

I agree with pininHull, don't just use online. Speak to someone on the phone, and pit insurance companies against each other. ask them for better offers. etc
Post it in Insurance as well benny -bennhoughton might pick it up and may be be able to advice you.
