You're better off getting a workshop (Haynes) manual for the car. It should tell you in there how to remove and replace the hood.

Do you actually mean the material or the whole frame/mechanism as well? I replaced one back in 1994/95 and it was a real biatch. That was a manual sunroof, is yours manual or automatic?

can anyone tell me what is the small tap on the plastic bottle marked min and max on the left handside of the boot for, which is something to do with the working of the electric roof on my 216 rover cabriolet

In answer to stevey's question the tap is a bypass valve, if the hood fails to operate undo the tap 4 complete turns anti-clocwise and open/close the hood manually. When its fixed tighten it up again.
