Can anyone help, Battery warning light is staying on when engine running, driving well otherwise.scenic 1998

prev my motor bike was stolen on my driveway i'm insured and tax'd but just found out my mot expired 6 weeks ago.am i still insured?

It will be either the drive belt ( maybe stretched or come off ) or your alternater has packed up.
ps/ the drive belt is what used to be called the fan belt.

If the alternator isn\'t producing enough power this would cause the light to come on. Test the alternator or if you don\'t know how or haven\'t got a multimeter/ voltmeter take it to a Lucas Autocentre. They generally test for free.
