i can smell either petrol or exhaust fumes in my vectra 1.8

when the engine is idling eg at traffic lights, i set off again and i can smell either petrol or exhaust fumes, the petrol tank isn't leaking and it doesn't sound like the exhaust is blowing, what could it be?

Panic Button

I would lift the bonnet with the engine running and see if there is a strong smell of petrol. You might even see something amiss if it is bad enough.

I suggest you put your fag out first.

thankyou panic button! took your advice and found the split in the fuel line.

and i remembered to put my fag out first lol!!
