Warning light on saxo

Ok so i got this saxo & the engine warning light has recently started to come on,it stays on when driving.
Only thing done to car recently was new battery fitted.
Any ideas what could be wrong anyone ?
I am too scared to drive it incase it blows up :)

assuming you have oil ,water,not overheating & its running ok its unlikely to blow up. If its the enging managment light it is telling you somethings wrong really could be a number of things , faulty sensor etc., Needs to plugged into a diagnostic system, does not have to be a dealer as most garages now carry this equipment .

ok cheers chas & yeh i got water etc & apart from warning light runs ok.
This diagnostic test,is it costly ?
depends area to area, local guy might just charge �20.00, a dealer �60+ unfortunately there know other way of telling, just the way modern vehicles with all there electronics are put together

Check under the bonnet to see if any plugs or wires have been dislodged.

Check every fuse in the fuse box.

What light is it ? - Engine management or Air-Bag ?.
