The handbook for my wifes Saxo says it is a dealer job to replace the dashboard warning lights. Anyone done it themselves? If so help would be appreciated, as the local dealer has quoted up to two hours work plus parts!

Two hours is trying to rip you off big style.  It takes less than an hour to take the dash panels off, remove the dial pod, replace the bulb and put it all back together.  The best thing to do is buy yourself a workshop manual and do it yourself.  Its really not difficult.

If not, definitely do not take it to a dealer.  A cheap garage will do it for a lot less cost.
