Vauxhall Corsa broken bonnet release lever

The lever inside my corsa (03 reg) has come away from car and doesn't work - I tried to release bonnet and pulled it really hard and are still unable to get into the bonnet .... any suggestions?

Try and get a pair of mole grips on the cable where the lever has come away from. At the same time you are pulling on the cable get someone to press up and down on the bonnet.
