How much will it cost me to have a the timing belt changed on my W reg Vectra? The local garage have said 175, which seems a bit steep. Are they ripping me off? Any advice welcomed please!!

if that is all inclusive then its a good price,we would charge about the same.
As NORMANTHEDOG says it is a good price. A lot depends on where you live and whether or not you go to a main dealer.

On some cars you would be looking at 300 plus.
you havent said if it is petrol or diesel, you need to check this price will include parts labour and vat and that it's a timing belt kit containing belt and tensioners and not just a belt
Fair price, while they are down there, get them to examine tensioners, for what it cost and if you intend to keep the car replace them also,if advised
When it comes to timing belts there comes a point when you have to think about the cost of repair should it break on you. You could be looking at 3 times that amount. I think It's well worth it for peace of mind
I have had two timing belts go on me because I didn't see the point of paying out for something that was O.K.
The first which was a long time ago cost me 850
and the second more recently cost me 450.!
I have recently had one on my Renault Scenic at a local garage for 150, Renault wanted 450. 175 dosn't sound bad.
