the clutch went this morning on a friends car. it will not go into gear when the car is running. however, the clutch pedal itself is very loose and offers no resistance when pushing down on it. does anybody think that it may just be the clutch cable or do you think the whole clutch is wrecked?

any thoughts appreciated

thanks

Sounds like the cable has snapped, i assume you can put it in gear when the car is not running, thus the clutch is in working order apart from the cable
sorry your car doesnt have a cable .The clutch is operated by a seperate cylinder (fluid supplied via brake master)mounted by the pedal which pushes/pulls a lever .This lever normally snaps about 25 quid from your l;ocal ford dealer
