put the front of your hand about 2/3 inches away from vent and turn on,you should have to move hand,because its too cold,if not cold,you need re/gassing.

You should only ever need re-gassing if you have a leak. Other than that there is nothing to be done with air con in a car. Think of your fridge, you don't get that serviced or re-gassed..
