I have just bought a new car and am waiting for my new insurance certificate - however I need to tax the car when I pick up up tonight. The insurance company have said they can fax me through a cover note but they didn't think it was valid for when I get tax - is there any way around this or do I have to keep my car off road until the new insurance details come through?

You can't get Tax without an Insurance document. Contact your insurers now to get you covered for this afternoon and fax it through to the garage if you know their number. Be quick though.
