Hi all - I asked last week about the 316i, and it was quoted as a "cut-down version" of BMWs. So that won't do for me! Has anyone had experience with the 318i 2.0litre 4dr saloon? Is this much better? Is it still not quite the best? Bearing in mind I'm only on my second-ever car, any BMW looks great to me! Advice appreciated.

much better than compact , personally for me a 525i /528i ticks all boxes
Are we talking about a new 318? I thought the recent ones were 1.9 litre.
The E36 shape 318 (around J to S reg) are 1.8 litre, the E46 shape 318 (S to 55) are 1.9/2.0 litre, depending on who you talk to. BMWs come in either SE or Sport, the Sport having more standard extras and better body styling and wheels. Any BMW is fine as long as its not a Compact.
what is wrong with the compact anyway?

Thanks for all your advice - I reckon Skids knows his cars... :o)

So its the image problem basically? Can you not still get standard 316's?

Im not a fan I was just wondering if they were actually inferior in terms of built quality etc.

Im only really interested in e30s

okay, ive found out the answer about 316s. You don't get them in the new shape.

According to Parkers 318s changed from 1.9 to 2 litre in 01. You learn something new every day
