these companies tape their conversations, ask them to replay it and check when you were told the insurance started. it is a long winded request and will take a few weeks but they have to do it if you ask for it to be done. This should then prove that you were advised you were insured. If they cannot sort this out then you need your phone bill to prove when u rang and just state your case if it goes to the magistrates.Plus, you were on the bike weren't u and not on your own in the car? You said DRIVIng not riding you see.
Depending on when you called the insurance Company the cover would commence immediately at the time it was agreed, seems odd that any Insurance Company would be working at 11.30pm - must be an overnight document run.most, if not all insurance companies are tied by FSA and other in-house regulations these days, so everything is perfectly trackable and auditable, if someone confirmed that you were on cover, I would suggest you get them to send you a letter confirming that this was what has been agreed - in 99.99% of cases this wouldnt be a problem, but the timing of being pulled in comparison with cover being arranged is just a bit ufortunate.
Get them to write to you though confirming the time you called , they would presumably have this on their Computer systems.

this is car i am talking about not bike i got pulled in car and thank god i was with my dad at time and i setup the policy over the internet at time which was 12 noon and my certificate says 11:30 pm at night

As has been suggested, you should make every effort to obtain proof from your insurers that you were insured at the time you were stopped. If you are convicted you are unlikely to lose your licence entirely (i.e. be disqualified). However, as you know, your full bike licence will be revoked as the minimum number of points the magistrates will impose is six. You will have to revert to provisional licence status for having accumulated six points within two years of passing your test.

On another note, and more of a question from me, were you ever taught punctuation and grammar? Your original question contained about 150 words without a single punctuation mark of any description. This, coupled with the numerous abbreviations and spelling errors meant I had to read it three or four times before I could successfully interpret what you were asking! You will always get a better response if people can easily understand what you are asking them

prove to the court that the insurers said you were insured from the time of the phonecall and you will be fine. What were you stopped for? This may affect the result. If it was just a random check then I reckon you will have no problems. Police would rather have people that go about insuring thier car properly than many drivers who return from a car sale without insurance at all, and you would't have had the document at the time you were stopped so you had no way of knowing the insurers had made and error.

As for them not being able to backdate it, someone doesn't know what they're doing and can't be bothered with it. A the end of the day, if they made it clear to you (and you can show this) that at the time of the call, you werer insured, all liability rests with the insurer.

If you did it on the internet wouldn't they have sent a confirming e mail at the time ????

Just how many insurance companies are the panel aware of that work at 11.30 pm? If it was done over the phone it is generally activated straight away, with paperwork to follow. I would respectfully suggest to the insurance company they got AM and PM wrong

hi,i had no L plates on at the time will i get points for that? like an lc20 driving otherwise with accordance with a license? and will i get banned if i get 6 points for no insurance and 3 points for having no L plates in my first 2 year peroid of my test
u can get points for no l plates but if u r convictid of no insurance and no l plates wot were dun at the same time u will only get points 4 the wurst offence the no insurance coz u cannot get points 4 2 offences wot were committed at the same time so u will only get 6 points assuming the court gives u the minimum they can ban u 4 the single offence of no insurance on its own but this is not likely so u will have six points within 2 years which means u will not be banned but will lose your full licence and have to go back 2 l plates for riding your bike (hope u can understand this ok)

so sitituation like me i will only get 6 points which is 4 for insurance and 2 for l plates? but i thought minimum was 6 for insurance and 3 for no l plates and are u sure that i will only get 6 points with the insurance and no lplates and will i definetely get points for the no L's

When you are convicted of a number of motoring offences which were committed at the same time you can be fined for each of them individually, but you only receive penalty points for the most serious. In your case this would be the No Insurance offence.

As you correctly assume, magistrates will impose a minimum of six points (but maybe more if they think fit) for that offence, but you will receive no additional points for driving otherwise than in accordance with your provisional licence (i.e. No L-Plates). The six (or more) points will not be split between the two offences but will be all for No Insurance. Your licence will be endorsed (but without penalty points) for the other offence.

JudgeJ - what a superb response to the initial question. I am fairly new to the AB and am astounded by the appalling standard of grammar and punctuation generally used by many. However, if they get their point across and get reasonable answers, then fair enough, but I am still saddened by the decline in standards of English usage when you have to decipher the question first.
I picked up a car before with the intention of insuring it as soon as i got home. Of course i got pulled 30 seconds up the road! All i did was ring the insurance company straight away and take out a policy. When all the papers arrived i simply used the certificate of insurance rather than the cover note when producing my documents. The woman at the pig station never questioned it at all and even commented on how unlucky i was to get pulled on the same day i took out the insurance! Like the others say, they always tape the conversations. They say for "training" purposes but really so they can screw on some small detail should you have to make a claim. Hope this helps!

Well, Wu Banger, I suppose you mean screw you on a "small detail" like not having taken out a policy of insurance before you drive a vehicle?

I'm surprised the person at the "pig" station accepted your policy instead of your certificate of insurance - policies generally do not provide sufficient detail (as you obviously know). I suppose the pig person was too busy with its nose in the trough to notice.

On a point of interest, buying a car is not something one usually does on the spur of the moment. So if you had "fully intended to insure it as soon as you got home", why did you not make those arrangements before you left? Or did getting pulled have something to do with it?

And Wu Banger, the child you could have run over on your way home with your car with no insurance or the car that you wrecked that someone had spent years saving up for ..... of course that is their tough luck isn't it. Maybe when you are in trouble, being attacked or a member of your family is being raped, the 'pig station' might just pretend to attend and produce a false record of their attendance, that would be clever.
Hey all, i got pulled the other day for driving without insurance, however i had been informed by the person who's car it is that i was covered by their own insurance policy. when later looked at I wasnt. anyone have an idea what the penalties are? i have been driving 3 years and have 3 years no claims bonus. cheers
