What is meant by this is when the engine is cold, take it nice and easy until the engine is at normal temp and then you can have fun.... When you stop and going to shut down the engine, let it idle for about 90-120 seconds to allow the turbo to stop spinning and cool down before you switch off the engine, this advice follows for any hi performance turbo engine.
it refers to the oil supply to the turbo, after an extended motorway run for example, it's best not to switch the engine off straightaway but to let it tickover for a while to ensure oil circulates through it, taking away localised heat and continuing lubrication. in addition, two major things to take seriously on this engine are, regular oil changes with good quality oil and ensure the cambelt is in good nick. it's a real easy job that has disastorous consequences for your pocket if the belt breaks...
RS Turbo? I thought it was 2006 not 1990!
So what, it don't have to be new to have fun!! The Escort is a simpler car than a Focus ST which is much better when you have to fix it!!
its not about the age, its about how sad it is to see these stupid E reg rust buckets STILL bombing down the road with a dump valve and alloys more expensive than the car was originally worth. Simpler than a focus ST? That may be true, but only one of hem spells CHAV.
I agree with the first two posts and I think the RS turbo will be a future classic as most sporty escorts have been. Spaced - what makes you jump to the conclusion its a rust bucket. I think older cars are nice esp when there arnt many about as they are more individual. I bet if you turned up in a pristine RS Turbo you'd get a lot more attention that in your humdrum BMW, Audi etc. Not everyone can afford newer cars so an alternative to have a bit of fun is to buy an older spsorty car. I personally would like a nice Pug 309 GTI.
