I suggest you take it to a brake specialist like Kwik Fit who will check the system for free and give an honest appraisal. I've always found them accurate and reliable.
the brake fluid level will drop as the pistons in the front brake calipers move out further as the brake pads wear down. he works in a garage or owns it? it's a bad call to be honest. it's pretty certain the front brakes are knackered. go to kwikfit maybe but for gods sake get them checked properly before it kills you or someone else...

Your fella's mate dos'nt seem to have a clue!

As Paul says the brake fluid will need topping up slightly as the brake pads wear, the grinding noise you heard was probably the pads with hardly any lining on grinding on the brake discs now all the lining has gone and your trying to stop the car with metat to metal contact!

Let halfords have a look but it could now cost you for new brake discs aswell.

Did'nt your fellas mate even look at the brake pads?

dnt go to kwik fit watever u do

1.pads worn no lining left metal to metal on brake application.

2.discs have worn thin that can cause a wobble on steering wheel when slowing down

steve

Listen to thebhoy - DON'T go to Kwik-Fit!

Bunch of cowboys!

I bet Quick Fit are better than Kitten's Fella's mate though!
