It's most likely to be a fuel delivery problem. Perhaps you should check your idle speed?

Cheers Sparky, is that a job for a mechanic, and if so , will it be ?

It's not complicated, but if you're unsure I'd take it to a mechanic. It shouldn't take more than 10 mins and most small time mechanics will do it for free!

How old is the car? I had the same problem before. Check that you don't have an oil leak as it could be the oil pressure. I changed the spark plugs and even and the engine wired up to a Engine management system. It done my head in. Always riding the cluth to keep the revs up to stop it from cutting out. It was a nightmare! Get the oil checked first.

Cheers Tylie/Sparky, just popped out to check under the bonnet as there is no sign of any oil on the drive BUT, there is a leak!! it looks like its coming out of the oil filter and welling in part of the chasis so its not obvious that theres a leak. Im off to buy a new filter now, thanks for you help!!!!
