did you not get any sort of manual with the caravan,if you did im sure it would recomend the right size awning for your model in it,if not consult a dealer to be on the safe side.
Unless there is something very unusual about the shape of your caravan you just need to measure the length of the body at its longest (normally just below the windows) with a tape measure. Some awning makers might ask you for the maximun height as well, but not normally. Unless very specifically made for one caravan, most awnings will fit a small range of sizes - for example 15 to 16 feet, or whatever. I have purchased awnings for two caravans now and find that the simple body length measurement is fine.
I think most awning manufacturers these days size their products by ground-to-ground length; with the van on level ground, measure from the ground below the awning channel entry point at one end of the van, right round the channel to the corresponding point on the ground at the other. Armed with this dimension, any decent awning manufacturer or caravan dealer will be able to supply you an awning that will fit.

Thanks everyone. I think the answer from Narolines was the one I had vaguely heard in the dim and distant past but as awnings are pretty expensive, I wanted some verification. Once again Thanks all. E
