Is it just my imagination or is every other question about a problem with a Rover?
I always knew they were rubbish but it seems that absolutely nothing is right with them?
Please enlighten me Rover owners - why on earth did you buy one?

I have a 1994 Rover 218 SLD Turbo and have owned it for 7 years. It has done 153 000 miles and has always been very reliable. In the past I have owned Peugeots and they were nowhere near as good.

I wouldn't touch Fiat or Alfa Romeo with a bargepole.

In answer to your questions:
no,no, yes, yes
I owned a Rover many years ago, a Rover 90. Would go anywhere anytime. A faultless car as were the few that followed up to the TDi series, 2000, 2200 and 3500. After that they were all cr*p.

I notice that a lot of questions relate to faults on Renaults, is it my imagination or dislike of French products that make it obvious.

As a born and bred Englishman (if I am allowed to say I am English) I started with Rover then Morris and MG before British Leyland. Made a change to Ford then to Honda which has proved the best so far. Very few questions on the answerbank about Hondas. A good sign?

A friend bought a Rover recently and couldnt praise the after sales service enough when his engine blew and the gear box packed up. He lost faith when the second and third box were replaced and the drivers door hinge broke off just before the battery was replaced due to a faulty altenator. He didnt know about the answerbank so he sold it.

Yes - behind Rovers it is definitely Renaults (Clios usually).
Its such a shame cos it has been proved that British workers can make decent cars - i blame the designers and managers at Rover - they just didnt get it at all. I'm sure the lads and lasses on the line wanted to make decent cars and sadly it was these people who all lost their jobs whilst i'm sure those at the top who's fault it was came up smelling of roses.
