Our neighbours across the field have invited us to a celebration of their twins' first birthday on Saturday. What do you get two 1 year old boys?!

I said to Mr BM, we won't get the boys anything since they will be inundated with presents from family and closer friends and I was thinking of getting mum and dad something (probably alcohol related) to congratulate them for surviving the first year.

Any ideas, please? I know if I ask mum or dad, they will say "Don't bother".

yep, something for the parents. One year olds know nothing.
Wow! I think that a gift of alcohol for Mum and Dad will go down well and be much appreciated.
Wish my family and friends had thought of that! :-)
I honestly wouldn’t bother. We had 1yr old birthday in the family earlier in the year and they had so many gifts even the parents lost track of what was what. As a neighbour rather than family I think your idea of a bottle is a great one.

Hat and/or scarf set for boys, plus bottle of fizz for mum and dad.
Nice idea to get the parents something, but I wouldn’t go without little gifts for the babies too. It is, after all, their birthday.
Wine for Mum and Dad and a few cardboard boxes and wrapping paper for the boys;0)).
A bottle of fizz for parents and maybe a couple of books they can look at in bath. My little granddaughter, loved to look at these while in bath.

Moneyboxes maybe even with their names on.
// couple of books they can look at in bath //

Are you suggesting 'The Water Babies' by Charles Kingsley?
they would need goggles for that - and may be snorkels too.
I was going to suggest a couple of rag-books for the babies. They are chewable as well as being OK for bathtime.
Zebu, funny enough...no.
One of the books is titled, Splish Splash :-)
I'm not sure Isabel Otter intended for her works to be read in the bath. Not unless the pages are laminated. You know like one of those ols ARGOS catalogues you would find in store.
Bottle of something for parents and gift voucher for babies then parents can get what they need
Mine had one of these when he was one - he's screamed with joy!

Thank you all. I've ordered a small token gift for the twins (a bath book as suggested by Patsy), but am getting mum and dad a nice bottle of fizz.

a litre of Calpol mightn't go amiss
Just a card for each child with a monetary gift inside. Leave it to the parents to decide what to buy. Definitely no presents for the parents
// a bath book as suggested by Patsy //

Is that one book each or one between them?

//card for each child with a monetary gift inside//

Lovely gesture however the problem with this is deciding on the amount of money to put inside each card.
