Assuming you are driving on the left and the cars are parked on the left, you should give way to traffic coming down the hill as the obstruction (parked cars) is on your side.

It used to be customary to give way to vehicles coming up hill because it is easier for traffic going down to move off from stationary. This goes back to horse drawn vehicle days when it made very good sense.

But, parked cars on your side are YOUR obstruction and you should give way to oncoming traffic.

Not that many horsies on the road now delboy!

How old are you anyway?

Was the world black and white when you were born tee hee!

There is no such thing as "right of way" the highway code tells you when you should give way. In the situation you describe. Cheekychops is correct.

Watch it Snapper ! Just imagine, mate if there were the same number of horses as ther are cars. Bloody good fun on the M25 eh ?

Well, I'm 72 and started driving when there were still a few horses using the road such as milk carts, coal carts etc. and I am the grandson of a drayman, so I met men who did follow that simple rule I mentioned.

And did you know that lorry drivers (hauliers) can still legally relieve themselves against the wheel of their vehicle (not while its moving, of course !). All goes back to 'orse and carts. Have a great Xmas.

Some of us do remember horse-drawn vehicles..........our local rag and bone man had one, (not seen a rag & bone man for years, though). I do clearly remember seeing Foden etc steam lorries in everyday use and I'm not that old. It were a grand life, Gromit lad.

CheekyChops and derekpara......agree 100%.

Alltorque....I remember chasing after the horse and cart with a bucket and shovel......grandad said the "pollution" was good for the roses!!
