hi Ozzy
over here every news item ,travel report and headline seems to be on about perceived fuel shortages and now they are sending in the army
It's not a fuel shortage as such though or an exaggerated storey its just long queues that are real
Toilet rolls all over again. Human instinct. The more they say don't panic the more they panic
I blame the press.
so does everyone blame the press, they hype the stories.
Question Author
yes totally agree it is a media led frenzy
but there are more important issues they should be covering
such as?
Camouflaged fuel delivery vehicles, whilst the drivers are armed and ready to respond?
Sounds scary to me.
Please stay safe.

One fuel company had to close a few petrol stations due to shortage of drivers and the press turn it into something else and we end up with massive queues and no fuel at many places. I am waiting for another week or so then most should have full tanks and nowhere to put anymore then I wont have to queue for it.

sand shortage ?
And to answer your first question johny.5, once the press get a bee in their bonnet about something everything else goes out of the window. So no other news item in the world for them.
There didn't seem to be a fuel shortage when people were whizzing around the country on their staycations so why is there purporting to be one now?
I've seen photos of UK beaches.
Yes Johnny!
Definitely a sand shortage.
Can't blame brexit for that
some places have sand, but like my brothers local beach is all pebbles,

There isn't a fuel shortage. Drivers have gone back to Poland (or somewhere else in the EU) during covid and not come back. Long-distance drivers have fed up with bad pay and conditions and become delivery drivers or retired. We hear "don't panic" and panic and fill up when we don't need to and buy a month's supply over the weekend.
i am glad i don't drive at times like these -
Well played, johnny. :-)
Fuel delivery drivers have to have a special licence don't they? They are not generally long-distance HGV drivers, they go round a few garages & get home every night & they get better pay than other drivers. Fuel deliveries was always considered the cream of driving jobs.
There probably weren't many EU drivers doing fuel deliveries.
The shortage is probably due to retirees not being replaced by new entrants unable to train during Covid.
There would have been no widespread shortages but for media hype & mass panic.
forgot - END OF!
