Please help! I am going travelling next year and will be leaving my car in a locked garage, I am trying to find some car insurance to just cover me for fire and theft during this time, but no insurer does any! Does anyone know an insurer who might be able to help? Thanks!

Hi If you insure with one of the Online Insurers you may find them unwilling to provide this service. But an insurance broker should be able to get cover for you. We do it from time to time when we store a vehicle. Reclaim the Road Tax and ask for the insurance to be changed to cover fire and theft. You may need to make a written statement that the vehicle will not be driven during this time

I hope this helps

Hi Emu2005. My insurance company were pleased to change my cover over to "Fire & Theft" whilst my car was laid up in my garage for a while. It cost the princely sum of 10.

Thanks for your answers! I have asked my insurance company and they said they don't do just fire and theft, and a few of the other companies and brokers I have tried have all said the same - does anyone know the name of a specific insurance company which does offer this? Thanks!
