Came on last night, still on this morning all the way to the garage.

Garage just phoned and the warning light is off.

Why?! Now I'm massively stressed.

Lol mine does this all the time! its sod's law!!
I have also had it where the light comes on and they have done a diagnostic test and nothing comes up!
Get the oil and water etc checked and then leave it till next time.
Don't stress over it!

Oh Islay, I can't help it! It's like a badly behaved child, playing up for me and then perfectly behaved in front on the grandparents!!

I really don't understand cars, and the lack of understanding is making me stress out even more. Whoever said 'ignorance is bliss' is lying!
lol anthro - I swear kenzie knows when my husband is driving her as she plays up something chronic but is so good for me - he hates my car!!
Question Author
I've emailed a photo of the warning light into the garage now as photographic evidence that the light WAS showing this morning.

Now waiting on another phone call back...
lol good luck

It's an electrical fault on the dashboard and over £400 to replace :-(
how old is the car?
depending on the age I would be tempted to leave the blasted thing coming on and off - as long as you keep an eye on oil water etc
Did you drive through a large puddle?

There could be a loose connection leading to the alternator, or alternator on the way our.

Can you hear a screeming soiund coming from within the enagine Compartment? If so, Fan Belt needs adjustment or changing.
£400, what's that all about?
Before they start, first reply should have been "Sound"
TWR she has already told us its an electrical fault!
I do know that but what's the £400 all about.
Question Author
Thats TWR, but the garage called and its an electrical fault on the dashboard. I can expect several other warning lights to come on and off, and the speedometer to be faulty etc... so I need to save up £434 to replace it.

Wish it was just the battery...
Question Author
The cost is to replace the entire dashboard bit with the warning lights, engine temp monitor, speedometer etc. It's that that's faulty apparently.

Thanks Spath, I'll save up over the next few months and ask the garage to order in the part for me.
So am I right in saying the quote is from the car's dealership? if so look else where, this could be a simple connection ( Loose Wire) do you know any local family run Garages close to your home?
Is it a Peugeot by any chance?
-- answer removed --
A loose connection CAN lighten up ALL the Dash Lights.
