I should have said from West Yorkshire.
Gawd blimey, if you don't mind me asking Jeza, why do you need to do that ?.

Evening Tony. I can't drive it there. The receiver can't collect it so it seems like a solution.
Sounds like an expensive solution, Jeza. Have you thought about paying someone to drive it down and getting a train back.
From 2008:
"Last quote I had was £50 + 70p per mile. Milage was calculated 'there-and-back'"
http://www.uksaabs.co.uk/UKS/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29918

So based upon a return mileage of perhaps 450 miles, that would be £365 at 2008 prices, so perhaps £400 might be a valid guide figure for today?
That would seem a much better idea. Temporary car insurance doesn't cost that much: http://www.moneysupermarket.com/car-insurance/short-term/

Thanks for your answers. I will look in to it.
If the vehicle can be driven (and has a current MOT, if required) then any decent vehicle logistics company should quote you TWO figures. One would be to use a low loader. The other would be for one of their 'trade platers' to drive it for you. (Trade platers have 'all vehicle' insurance and their plates carry their own tax disks, so you'd face no problems or extra costs relating to those issues).

Chris, the car is taxed, mot'd and insured for me to drive.
Would it be easier to re-sell it and state 'buyer collects'?
Question Author
I'm not selling it Sher.
Oh, ok.

Any recommendation Chris?
I'd seek a quote from BCA Logistics, Jeza:

They're the biggest in the business, so they should be OK.

However I've given lifts to a few drivers from Automotive Logistics (who are based in West Yorkshire) who gave me the impression that the firm was well-run, so they might also be worth a try:

Thanks Chris I'll check both out.
