Are you paying half
Make of BWM and Year. Also are you going to be running it on normal Unleaded or Premium?
Apologies I didn't read the "don't know make" bit as a single sentence. This isn't an easy one to answer...
When I was sharing petrol from Kettering to Newport I googled a map which calculated the distance and cost for petrol.
Try typing...Distance calculator.
If the vehicle does around 25 - 29 MPG. I'd take a stab at about £18 - £27 fuel.
gness: unfortuanatly that isn't any helpe to bluebird since they don't know the model or year of the car. I have a BMW Z3, 2008 and that would cost around £25 for the 80mile journey. It all depends on how you drive and also we need to know what type of BMW it is. If could have a 4.5litre engine and drink like a fish even whilst cruising.
I was wondering why Newport broke, now we know, Gness.

Oh Sweaty....the tale I could tell. :-(
Diz....Blue wants a rough idea...I used it without giving details of my car and it was almost spot on.

thanks for all your answers I shall give him £30 and hope for the best lol xxx
bluebird, is this BMW a 116 or an M5, what is it ?.
Yeah but there are loads of BMW's, if it's a sport or soft top you could be talking an extra 40p a mile. Or if they live in London then you could be talking an extra £3 a mile. Bloody Southerners!

gness, I have just done this using the Distance Calculator, from where I live to Santa Pod race way, and guess what, it was pretty much spot on.
Here's a few assumptions to help you:

Cost of fuel = £1.40 per litre = £6.3644 per gallon (1.4 x 4.546)

If we assume 20 mpg, then you're using 4 gallons, so cost of journey for fuel = 4 x 6.3644 = £25.46

If we assume 30mpg, then you're using 2 2/3 gallons, so cost of journey for fuel = 2 2/3 x 6.3644 = £16.97

If you give him £30, that works out at roughly 17 mpg ......

All of the above is just for fuel only and takes no account of any possible toll charges, wear and tear of the car, etc ..........
Gizmonster: very specific, I like. Even someone with a heavy right foot in a BMW sports would be able to manage 17mpg I hope.

4 cylinder, 1600cc
4.7 ltr V12, or some where in between?
it makes a difference
ahhhh, but i bet it's an automatic...

Garth couldn't drive anything else^^^ could he?
Tis' what I said Baldric but at 17mpg even a BMW M1 Hommage would be able to do 80 miles round trip on £30. Although you'd probably put Super Unleaded in that.

There were enough Southerners giving you good advice yesterday mate!
