In the TV news today it was reported that a service station erroneously set its pumps to sell petrol at 13p per litre instead of 139p per litre. Motorists came flocking to the pumps from miles around. One man filled his car for £9 instead of £80.
I can't understand why they didn't close down and put the error right.

It looks as if the filling station staff had absolute faith that the pumps' electronics would always, but always, work faultlessly.
