I bought a rover 45 deisel about a month ago and the diesel pump has packed up. It looks like its going to cost around �1000 to sort out. Is there any cheeper way?

Try looking in your local paper under "Cars for Sale".

If the car is brand new, you may be OK. Although Rover manufacturer warranties are worthless now, I think this would still come under the dealer's responsibilty to fix. Argue your case with them and they will cave, eventually. If the car is older then you could go to a scrappy, or a trusted small garage who may be able to find a reconditioned part.
