It was probably a RR. It wasVery long, pale olive green, rectangular outline, with three windows at each side and an open back window. I only saw it for a few moments so the description is a bit sketchy.
Thanks

A caravan!!
It would be a BIG coincidence if it was the same car that I was asking about, approx 8 months ago:

There's a link to a piccie in there.

Is it the same car ??

The nearest I can come on images is a RR Silver Phantom from the 20s and 30s, but this one looked like a tourer, as it had such a long chassis.
I somehow didn't think it'd be the same car as mine, that would have been too much of a coincidence.
Good luck in your quest of finding out what car it was, but without any piccies, it'll be an uphill struggle :(
annemollie, it may well have been a Rolls Royce (or not ) in those days R R bodies were coach built and they used various coach builders to build different types of bodies ie one for Saloons, one for phaetons one for tourers etc. But using one model of chassis.
Hope this makes sense to you.

It might be here again today so will dash out and lie in the road if I see it coming.
It had the old ga-gawka horn that I remember a neighbour having on his ancient roadster.
Not s Mercedes Grosser was it?
